A major component of any water chiller is the air cooled condenser.

The role of the condenser is to transfer heat from the refrigerant into the air stream being forced by fans across the condenser fins.

A build up of grease and dirt on the fins will act as an insulating blanket which raises the operating temperatures and pressures within the refrigeration circuit causing the compressor to work harder to achieve the same cooling effect.

Dirty condenser coils cost money. Higher than necessary electricity bills, 30% more in some cases, higher Climate Change Levy tax and shorter component life leading to higher service and maintenance costs.

Dirty coils also lead to a reduction in chiller performance which will have a direct effect on manufacturing output or an air conditioning system which is entirely dependant on a supply of chilled water at a specific temperature.

Worse, a dirty condenser coil at the height of the summer or during periods of peak need, can cause a complete stoppage of the chiller, leading to substantial costs of lost manufacturing output, major discomfort of staff dependant on comfort cooling or a shutdown of computer systems as a result of overheating

Cleaning is quick and simple and relatively low cost, thanks to modern non aggressive cleaning agents, designed specifically for condenser coil cleaning, which are now available from Coolmation Service Ltd.

Our service vehicles carry a range of these and cleaning can be arranged during a service or maintenance visit or by calling the Coolmation Service Desk on Freephone 0800 783 9559.
